July 2015 – Clients were three teenage boys riding in a car stopped by Chicago Police. Police fired shots into the vehicle without provocation. Two of the boys suffered minor gunshot wounds and the third was beaten by police. Mr. Cheronis had criminal charges dismissed against the plaintiffs and sued the Chicago Police Department for excessive force. Mr. Cheronis was able to secure a financial award totaling $360,000 for the teenage plaintiffs.
June 2015 – Client was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of body armor in his vehicle, facing a minimum of six years imprisonment. Mr. Cheronis took this case to trial and won a hard-fought verdict on five of six counts. Client was home a free man the following week.
April 2015 – Client was charged with Driving under the Influence of Cannabis and his license was suspended. Mr. Cheronis spoke with and wrote to the prosecutor’s office and convinced them to drop the charges AND give the Client back his driving privileges.
March 2015 – Client was charged with battery to a police officer. Attorney Cheronis took the case to a jury trial maintaining that the police officer was the aggressor and tasered Client without cause. Client was found not guilty by a jury. Following the trial Mr. Cheronis sued the police department and the officer for excessive force. Mr. Cheronis won a large financial settlement for Client.
February 2015 – Client was charged with domestic battery and went to trial. Despite photographs of facial injuries and bruising, Mr. Cheronis was able to discredit the testimony of the alleged victim on cross-examination. Facing up to one year in jail, Client was found not guilty.
